What's missing from this salad?
Hey, how did I miss planting cucumbers? I think I realized cucumbers were missing from my garden when I helped my nephew, Nathan, transplant his cucumber plants which he had raised in little pots inside his house. I love cucumbers, so this is unforgivable, except that I can now plant them in mid-May and still have them. With lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers and cucumbers, the basics are covered, and my continuing love affair with soups and salads can continue.

haha! I can't live without my cucumbers!! Ask Jason, I used to eat them whole when I was little lol I just bought mine today, but waiting until later this week when it's warmer to plant. Today we bought cauliflower, beans, peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, canteloupe, cucumbers, and a pumpkin...which I plan on waiting a while to plant in the ground..doing the "hill" thing this time too :)
ReplyDeleteYes, this darn global warming has me bringing in my potted tomatoes again tonight and hoping the things I planted will survive. It is supposed to flirt with frost tonight, in mid-May.
ReplyDeleteEverything sounds great for your garden, but realize that broccoli and cauliflower are cool weather crops, part of the kale, collards, cabbage, brussels sprout family, and you may be planting them into the heat of the summer. You might place little miniature fans blowing air over ice cubes next to each plant on hot days. ;)
If I can plant cucumbers in June and get to eat them in July, so can you! So don't worry about that. Also, outdoor tomato plants can be covered with recycled grocery bags to create the greenhouse effect. I wouldn't worry so much about them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gardenning. We are still growing them inside . . . oh well.
